Starting Monday, March 13, GO Transit reopens the west walkway and staircase on Sheppard Avenue East.

  • The new west staircase provides access to the train platform via the west walkway.
  • A bicycle rack is available near the staircase.
  • PRESTO payment devices are available on the west platform.
  • The east walkway and staircase remains closed as work continues.
  • With the new pedestrian tunnel available, the Marilyn Avenue pedestrian crossing closes permanently (see map). The new pedestrian tunnel has elevators and staircases to access the station.
  • The entire west platform is available for you to use and the boarding restrictions have ended. Spread along the platform for faster boarding.
  • The north portion of the parking lot is opening with new accessible parking stalls.

As work progresses at your station, be aware that:

  • The staircase structure on the north side of Sheppard Avenue East is still under construction.
  • The east platform and north walkway are closed for construction.
  • Entrances will safely lead you to the west platform - one is near the station building and another, further south, gives you direct access to the platform from the parking lot.

When construction ends, you’ll benefit from:

  • a new passenger pick-up and drop-off area (or “Kiss and Ride”);
  • a new second track and platform;
  • a renovated original platform;
  • two new pedestrian tunnels with elevators;
  • canopies and integrated shelters on the platforms to protect you from the elements;
  • a better connection to Sheppard Avenue East at the south end of the platforms; and
  • more landscaping.

Metrolinx and GO plan to accommodate more passengers and increase service along the Stouffville line, as part of their GO Expansion Program (formerly “regional express rail”).
