Update — Wednesday, April 19, 7:38 a.m.: Starting Thursday, April 20, the TTC is extending the path for the 501L shuttle buses to Queen Street West and Shaw Street.
The City of Toronto and the TTC continue their ongoing project to replace the streetcar tracks and improve the street infrastructure
- at the intersection of Queen Street West / King Street West / The Queensway / Roncesvalles Avenue
and nearby.
According to transit commentator Steve Munro, construction on the project has progressed so that streetcars have been able to operate through the intersection to and from Sunnyside Loop starting Wednesday, January 25, affecting service along this route:
- 501 Queen.
Shuttle buses continue to replace streetcars west of Sunnyside Avenue.
The TTC also continues to replace streetcars with buses along the 301 Queen overnight route. The buses operate through the Queen West / King West / The Queensway / Roncesvalles work zone along the regular path 301 path. They detour off the regular path between The Queensway / Windermere Avenue and Lake Shore Boulevard West near Humber Loop.
Friday, March 17, the TTC officially announced the change on its website.
While working on the project, the contractor uncovered conflicts with underground utilities on The Queensway between Parkside Drive and Roncesvalles Avenue / King Street West that require the City to modify its designs. The City expects that the contractor will complete Stage 2 of the project “in Spring 2023”. Officially, the TTC is now announcing that construction continues until May 7.
