The annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade wends its way through downtown Toronto this Sunday, March 19, resulting in detours or delaying TTC services.
The event affects these TTC routes — 13 Avenue Rd; 19 Bay; 94 Wellesley; 501 Queen; 501 Queen shuttle buses; 505 Dundas; 506 Carlton.
St. Patrick’s Day Parade
The City of Toronto is closing
- Harbord Street between Huron and St. George Streets,
- Hoskin Avenue between St. George Street and Queen’s Park Crescent West
and other streets near the St. George Campus of the University of Toronto from about 8 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. Sunday, while organizers set up the annual parade.
The parade starts from St. George Street and Bloor Street West at noon. As it reaches the various parts of its route and then clears the streets after it passes by, the City is closing and then reopening streets in downtown Toronto from noon until about 3 p.m., including
- Bloor Street West between St. George and Yonge Streets,
- Yonge Street between Bloor and Queen Streets,
- Queen Street West between Yonge Street and University Avenue and
- University Avenue, northbound lanes between Queen and Dundas Streets West.
The TTC is detouring transit services during the event.
13 Avenue Rd
From 8 a.m. until about 3:30 p.m. Sunday, March 19, southbound buses operate along their regular route to Avenue and Davenport Roads, then detour:
westward along Davenport;
southward along Bedford Road;
westward along Prince Arthur Avenue; and then
southward into St George Station bus terminal,
ending their trips.Southbound buses skip their regular stops
- on Avenue Road at Boswell Avenue, across from Yorkville Avenue and at Bloor Street West,
- on Queen’s Park across from Charles Street West [beside Museum Station],
- on Queen’s Park Crescent West at Hoskin Avenue and beside Hart House and the University of Toronto Library and
- on Queen’s Park Crescent East north of College Street.
Instead, southbound buses drop off or pick up passengers at temporary stops
- on Davenport Road beyond Avenue Road and beside #250 Davenport,
- on Bedford Road beyond Bernard Avenue and at Lowther Avenue and
- in St George Station bus terminal.
Northbound buses start their trips in St George Station bus terminal, then proceed:
northward along Bedford Road; and then
eastward along Dupont Street and Davenport Road to Avenue Road,
resuming their regular route northward along Avenue.Northbound buses skip their regular stops
- on Queen’s Park Crescent East beyond College Street, at Wellesley Street West and beyond St. Joseph Street,
- on Queen’s Park beyond Charles Street West [beside Museum Station],
- on Avenue Road beyond Bloor Street West, across from Lowther and Boswell Avenues and at Davenport Road.
Instead, northbound buses drop off or pick up passengers at temporary stops

- on Bedford Road beyond Lowther and Tranby avenues and at Davenport Road.
19 Bay
Buses operate along their regular route.
As the parade passes Bloor and Queen streets west at Bay Street from about noon until 3 p.m. Sunday, March 19, Toronto Police Service officers and TTC supervisors direct streetcars through gaps in the parade. Passengers should expect some delays until the parade clears the intersections.

From noon until 3 p.m. Sunday, March 19, buses replace streetcars along the 501 Queen route between Church and Parliament Streets.
Eastbound buses start their trips on Church Street south of Queen Street East, then proceed:
eastward along Queen East to River Street,

From noon until about 3 p.m. Sunday, March 19, the TTC splits the service into two routes:
- East — between Castle Frank and Wellesley stations; and
- West — between Ossington Station and Queen’s Park.
These eastbound route 94 stops receive no transit service from noon until 3 p.m. Sunday:
- on Harbord Street at St. George Street,
- on Hoskin Avenue beside Wycliffe College and
- on Wellesley Street West beside the Ontario Legislature and at Yonge Street.
These westbound route 94 stops receive no transit service from noon until 3 p.m. Sunday:
- on Wellesley Street East at Yonge Street,
- on Wellesley Street West at Bay Street and Queen’s Park Crescent East,
- on Queen’s Park Crescent West at Hoskin Avenue,
- on Hoskin Avenue beside Trinity College and at St. George Street and
- on Harbord Street at Spadina Avenue.
In the east end of the route, westbound buses start their trips in Castle Frank Station bus terminal, then proceed:
westward along Bloor Street East;
southward along Parliament Street;
westward along Wellesley Street East; and then
northward into Wellesley Station bus terminal,
ending their trips.Eastbound buses reverse the westbound routing.
Buses drop off or pick up passengers at all stops east of Wellesley Station.
In the west end of the route, eastbound buses operate along their regular route to Harbord Street and Spadina Avenue, then detour:
southward along Spadina avenue, crescent and avenue,

northward along Queen’s Park and Queen’s Park Crescent East; and then
eastward along Wellesley Street West to Bay Street,
