Queen West / King West / The Queensway / Roncesvalles Avenue construction: TTC revises 501L shuttle-bus route, starting April 20

The City of Toronto and the TTC continue their ongoing project to replace the streetcar tracks and improve the street infrastructure

  • at the intersection of Queen Street West / King Street West / The Queensway / Roncesvalles Avenue

and nearby.

Since Wednesday, January 25, streetcars along the 501 Queen route have operated through the intersection and between Sunnyside and Neville Park loops. Starting Thursday, April 20, the TTC is extending the path for the shuttle buses that replace streetcars west of Sunnyside Avenue. That day, buses operating along this route pick up or drop off passengers as far east as Queen Street West / Shaw Street, instead of Queen West / Dufferin Street:

The TTC has announced that it’s revising the path due “to infrastructure repairs”, but it hasn’t identified the site of the repairs.

The TTC also continues to replace streetcars with buses along the 301 Queen overnight route. The buses operate through the Queen West / King West / The Queensway / Roncesvalles work zone along the regular path 301 path. They detour off the regular path between Lake Shore Boulevard West near Humber Loop and The Queensway / Windermere Avenue.

While working on the project, the contractor uncovered conflicts with underground utilities on The Queensway between Parkside Drive and Roncesvalles Avenue / King Street West that require the City to modify its designs. The City expects that the contractor will complete Stage 2 of the project “in Spring 2023”. Officially, the TTC is now announcing that construction continues until May 7.
