Mississauga


Mississauga Half

The Region of Peel and the City of Mississauga are closing many streets throughout the city this Sunday to accommodate the annual race.

Sunday morning and early afternoon at various times, the Region and City are closing:

  • Burnhamthorpe Road West, westbound lanes, between Hurontario Street and Erin Mills Parkway, from 7 until 11 a.m.;
  • Burnhamthorpe Road West, eastbound lanes, between Erin Mills Parkway and Promontory Crescent, from 7 until 11 a.m.; and
  • Mississauga Road, northbound lanes, between Dundas Street West and Burnhamthorpe Road, from 7 until 9:30 a.m.

North- and southbound traffic can’t cross Burnhamthorpe West during the closure.

The University of Toronto is also closing Outer Circle Road through its Mississauga Campus.

The event starts at 7 a.m. As the race participants clear the route, Peel Regional Police officers may reopen the streets to traffic. Most streets reopen by 11 a.m.

Participants raise funds to help support several charities in Mississauga and Peel Region.

MiWay is detouring buses during the event.

Khalsa Day Celebration

The Ontario Sikhs and Gurdwara Council organizes the annual event, celebrating the Sikh New Year and the birth of Khalsa. Participants march from Exhibition Place to Nathan Phillips Square at City Hall.

The TTC is detouring buses to avoid delays during the event. (In previous years, the event has attracted large crowds of people that may block Bay Street, when walking to and from the venue.)

Major League Soccer

Saturday afternoon, Exhibition Place is closing various streets in its grounds to accommodate crowds of Toronto FC fans before, during and after its match with New York City FC at BMO Field.

According to a news release, the TTC is detouring buses while the streets are closed, but it has not announced detour-routing details. We’ve based this part of the post on information the TTC has provided about detours to accommodate Toronto FC matches during previous occasions.

From 5 until 10:30 p.m. Saturday, April 29, southbound buses operate along their regular path to Dufferin Street at Sprinhurst Avenue, then detour:

westward along Springhurst;
southward along Fort Rouille Street; and then
eastward into Dufferin Gate Loop,
ending their trips.
