Hurontario LRT - Britannia: MiWay detour, starting June 20



Update - Wednesday, June 19, 8:28 p.m.: Due to the LRT construction, eastbound passengers aboard buses along the 39 Britannia route board and exit buses at Hurontario Street from or onto a wooden stop platform “until further notice”.

Metrolinx and its contractors continue building the Hurontario light rail transit line in Mississauga and Brampton. When the line is operating, it will be called the Hazel McCallion Line, to honour the late Mississauga mayor.


Starting 10 p.m. Tuesday, June 20, LRT construction

  • at the intersection of Hurontario Street with Britannia Road

near the future Britannia LRT stop blocks southbound motorists on Hurontario from turning left (eastward) onto Britannia Road East.

MiWay is detouring buses along this route, while the work zone restricts turns:

  • 70 Keaton.

This phase of construction at Hurontario / Britannia and the resulting MiWay detour continue until August 14.


70 Keaton

From 10 p.m. Tuesday, June 20 until 10 p.m. Monday, August 14, westbound buses operate along their regular path to Hurontario Street and Britannia Road, then proceed:

southward along Hurontario;
westward along Sandstone Drive;
northward along Avebury Drive; and then
eastward along Britannia Road West to Hurontario,
resuming their regular path eastward along Britannia East.

Westbound buses skip their regular stop

  • on Britannia Road East beyond Hurontario Street.

Instead, westbound buses drop off or pick up passengers at temporary stops

  • on Hurontario Street at Sandstone Drive and
  • on Britannia Road West at Hurontario Street.
