Yonge Street Newmarket construction: YRT detour, starting July 18

Starting Tuesday, July 18, Region of York contractors are setting up a work zone that blocks

  • the entrance / exit for Upper Canada Mall to and from Yonge Street.

The closure likely results from the ongoing regional project to improve:

  • Yonge Street (Regional Road 1)

in the Town of Newmarket.

York Region Transit is detouring buses along this route, while the entrance is closed:

  • 52 Holland Landing.

Construction at Upper Canada Mall and the resulting YRT detour continue until October 1.

52 Holland Landing

From Tuesday, July 18 until Sunday, October 1, southbound buses operate along their regular path to Yonge Street at the main exit / entrance to and from Upper Canada Mall, then proceed:

southward along Yonge;
westward along Davis Drive West; and then
northward through the western entrance into the mall property to the mall ring road,
resuming their regular path eastward along the ring road.

Southbound buses skip their regular stop

  • on the mall ring road north of the mall.

Instead, southbound buses drop off or pick up passengers at temporary stops

  • on Yonge Street at Davis Drive West and
  • on Davis Drive West beside Upper Canada Mall.

Northbound buses reverse the southbound detour routing.

Northbound buses skip their regular stops

  • on the mall ring road east of the mall and north of the mall.

Instead, northbound buses drop off or pick up passengers at temporary stops

  • on Davis Drive West beyond Eagle Street West.
