Dundas Street West "bridge work": TTC detours, starting July 30

The TTC has announced that, starting Sunday, July 30, it’s detouring streetcars along these routes due to “bridge work”, likely on Dundas Street West:

  • 505 Dundas; and
  • 506 Carlton.

Shuttle buses replace the cars west of Lansdowne Avenue.

Buses continue to replace streetcars along the 306 Carlton overnight route. The buses operate along the regular route 306 path to and from Dundas West Station.

Bridge work on Dundas West and the resulting TTC detours continue until August 4.

Also starting Sunday, July 30, the City of Toronto is closing

  • Howard Park Avenue between Roncesvalles Avenue and Dundas Street West

for water-main construction. The TTC will further detour streetcars along the 506 Carlton route, starting Saturday, August 5.

The TTC has not specified the exact location of the “bridge work”, but two bridges between Sorauren and St. Helens avenues carry traffic along Dundas Street West over two separate Metrolinx rail corridors. GO Transit trains along the 31 Kitchener and 65 Barrie lines operate under these bridges. Metrolinx and GO plan to accommodate more passengers and increase service along the lines as part of their GO Expansion Program (formerly “regional express rail”). However, the regional transit agency has not announced any specific work that could affect the bridges during this period.

Similarly, the City of Toronto’s website is silent about any construction on or near the bridges.
