Other weekend events also affect transit services, August 3, 4, 5 and 6



The Caribbean Carnival Grand Parade isn’t the only event to affect transit services this weekend.

Other special events take place in Brampton, the Downsview area of Toronto, Hamilton and Milton this Friday, August 4, Saturday, August 5 and Sunday, August 6.

The Friday, August 4 event affecting transit services is: the Veld Music Festival.

The Saturday, August 5 events affecting transit services are: the Brampton Farmers Market; a Canadian Football League game; the Milton Farmers Market; and the Veld Music Festival.

The Sunday, August 6 event affecting transit services is: the Veld Music Festival.


Brampton


Brampton Farmers Market

Saturday mornings and early afternoons until October 7, the City of Brampton is closing

  • Wellington Street West between George and Main Streets South

to accommodate the city’s weekly farmers market.

GO Transit is likely detouring service while the street is closed, but has not announced detour routings.

33 Guelph / Georgetown / North York

Until 2 p.m. Saturday, August 5, eastbound buses likely operate along their regular path to Downtown Brampton Terminal, then detour:

eastward along Nelson Street West; and then
southward along Main Streets North and South to Wellington Street,
resuming their regular path southward along Main South.

Eastbound buses drop off or pick up passengers at all stops.

Veld Music Festival

The annual music festival again takes place in Downsview Park Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

The TTC is revising service during the event.

101 Downsview Park

From 11 a.m. Friday, August 4 until 11:59 p.m. Sunday, August 6, southbound buses operate along their regular path to Downsview Park Trail and Carl Hall Road, then detour:

northeastward along Carl Hall;
northward along Chesswood Drive; and then
westward along Sheppard Avenue East to John Drury Drive,
resuming their regular path westward along Sheppard West.

Southbound buses skip their regular stop

  • on Carl Hall Road across from Centennial College’s Downsview campus.

Instead, southbound buses drop off or pick up passengers at temporary stops

  • on Sheppard Avenue West beyond Bakersfield Street and at Tuscan Gate and John Drury Drive.

Canadian Football League game
All Hamilton Street Railway routes

You can ride any HSR bus free of fare to the Hamilton Tiger-Cats game against the Montreal Alouettes, Saturday, August 5 at 7 p.m. — if you hold a valid ticket to the game.

With the HSR’s Ticket to Ride program, you can ride free of fare to Tim Horton’s Field for as much as two hours before game time and free of fare from the stadium until the end of service. Just show your game ticket to the bus operating and that’s your ticket to ride.

Buses serve all local stops between the Hamilton GO Centre, downtown Hamilton and Barton Street East at Lenister Avenue North — just one block north of Tim Hortons Field.

3 Cannon

Buses serve all local stops between the Hamilton GO Centre, downtown Hamilton and Cannon Street East at Balsam Avenue North — just south of Tim Hortons Field.

Tiger-Cats Express shuttles

From about 5 until 7 p.m., Saturday, August 5, free HSR shuttle buses also speedily transport ticket-holders from three terminals across the city to the stadium. After the game is over, they’ll shuttle you back again. You can view the schedule for Saturday’s shuttle service here

Milton Farmers Market

Saturdays until October 7, the Town of Milton is closing

  • Main Street East between James and Martin Streets

to accommodate the Milton Chamber of Commerce’s weekly market.

Milton Transit is detouring buses while the street is closed.

Until noon Saturday, August 5, eastbound buses operate along their regular path to Main Street East and James Street, then detour:

northward along James; and then
eastward along Mill Street to Martin Street,
resuming their regular path northward along Martin.

Westbound buses operate along their regular path.

York Region Transit is detouring buses while the street is closed.

After 5 p.m. Thursday, August 3, buses operate along their regular path to Carlton Road Main Street Unionville, then detour:

eastward along Carlton;
southward along Kennedy Road;
westward along Highway 7; and then
northward along Sciberras Road to Fred Varley Drive,
resuming their regular path westward along Fred Varley.

Buses skip their regular stops

  • on Main Street Unionville at Fred Varley Drive and
  • on Fred Varley Drive at Fonthill Boulevard, across from Aldona Road and at Sciberras Road.
