Weekend events affect transit services, August 31, September 1, 2, 3, 4



Autumn doesn’t officially start for another three weeks, but for many people, the Labour Day weekend seems like the last weekend of the summer.

Fortunately, you’ll have lots to do to keep your mind off the end of the warmer months with parades, sports events — and the Canadian National Exhibition — on the special-events agenda. These and other special events in Brampton, the Erindale area of Mississauga, Hamilton, the Malton area of Mississauga, the Scarborough and central areas of Toronto, the Unionville area of Markham and Uxbridge all affect transit services this weekend, Thursday, August 31, Friday, September 1, Saturday, September 2, Sunday, September 3 and Labour Day, Monday, September 4.

Brampton Farmers Market

Saturday mornings and early afternoons until October 7, the City of Brampton is closing

You can ride any HSR bus free of fare to the Hamilton Tiger-Cats game against the Toronto Argonauts for the Labour Day Classic, Monday, September 4 at 1 p.m. — if you hold a valid ticket to the game.

With the HSR’s Ticket to Ride program, you can ride free of fare to Tim Hortons Field for as much as two hours before game time and free of fare from the stadium until the end of service. Just show your game ticket to the bus operating and that’s your ticket to ride.

Tiger-Cats Express shuttles

From about 11 a.m. until 1 p.m., Labour Day, Monday, September 4, free HSR shuttle buses also speedily transport ticket-holders from three terminals across the city to the stadium. After the game is over, they’ll shuttle you back again. You can view the schedule for Monday’s shuttle service here.

Hamilton Labour Day Parade

The City of Hamilton is closing

  • Bay Street North between Strachan Street West to York Boulevard,

Members of Toronto’s labour unions, politicians and celebrities take part in the annual parade. It leaves Bay and Queen Street West at 9:30 a.m. Labour Day, Monday, September 4 and proceeds westward along Queen West, southward along Dufferin Street, eastward along Liberty Street and then northward along Jefferson Street, arriving at Allan Lamport Stadium at about 11 a.m.

The TTC is detouring transit services during the parade.
