Updated — Wednesday, September 13, 4:59 p.m.: According to local transit commentator, Steve Munro, Hydro construction is occurring at Gladstone Avenue.
The TTC has announced that, starting Wednesday, September 13, it’s detouring streetcars along this route between King Street West / Roncesvalles Avenue and Shaw Street due to “Toronto Hydro work”:
- 501 Queen.
Shuttle buses replace the cars. The buses operate between Long Branch Loop and Broadview Avenue.
Buses continue to replace streetcars along the 301 Queen overnight route. The overnight buses operate along the regular route 301 path between Neville Park and Long Branch loops.
Toronto Hydro construction on Queen Street West and the resulting TTC detour continue until September 23.
During the detour for this construction project, the TTC is combining two current shuttle-bus routes into one:
- 501L Queen shuttle buses usually replace the cars during ongoing construction at the intersection of Queen Street West / King Street West / The Queensway / King Street West; and
- 501B Queen shuttle buses usually replace the cars during Metrolinx’s construction of the future Ontario Line subway on Queen streets east and west between Victoria and Bay streets.
The TTC has not identified the location of the “Toronto Hydro” work on Queen West that affects streetcar service. Hydro’s construction map displays just one project in the closure area at the intersection of Queen with Dovercourt Road.
