Huntingwood Drive construction: TTC detour, starting September 20

Update — Monday, June 3, 5:40 p.m.: Crews start working on Phase 2 of the project — between Warden Avenue and Birchmound Road Monday, June 3. The TTC is further detouring the buses.

Since July, City of Toronto contractors have been working on a project to improve:

  • Huntingwood Drive between Kennedy Road and Pharmacy Avenue.

Starting Wednesday, September 20, the City is closing:

  • Huntingwood between east of Warden Avenue and west of Pharmacy

to all traffic to accommodate the project.

The TTC is detouring buses along these routes, while the street is closed:

  • 169 Huntingwood.

During this project on Huntingwood Drive, the City intends to

  • remove and replace roadway asphalt;
  • build raised median islands and planters to improve the bike lanes;
  • install raised TTC bus platforms; and
  • repair curbs, gutters and sidewalks.

Contractors work in three phases:

  • Phase 1, July to November 2023 - west of Warden Avenue to east of Pharmacy Avenue;
  • Phase 2, May to July 2024 - west of Kennedy Road to west of Birchmount Road; and
  • Phase 3, August to October 2024 - west of Dunmurray Boulevard to east of Warden Avenue.

169 Huntingwood

From Wednesday, September 20 until Friday, October 6, westbound buses operate along their regular path to Huntingwood Drive and Warden Avenue, then detour:

southward along Warden;
westward along Sheppard Avenue East; and then
northward along Pharmacy Avenue to Huntingwood,
resuming their usual path westward along Huntingwood.

Westbound buses skip their regular stops

  • on Huntingwood Drive at Warden Avenue, Ridgecrest and Kilkenny drives and Pharmacy Avenue.

Instead, westbound buses drop off or pick up passengers at temporary stops

  • on Warden Avenue and Bowater Drive and Sheppard Avenue East,
  • on Sheppard Avenue East across from Palmdale Drive and Abbotsfield Gate and at Pharmacy Avenue; and
  • on Pharmacy Avenue beyond Sheppard Avenue East and across from #2036 Pharmacy.

Eastbound buses reverse the westbound detour routing.
