Main North / Theatre / Nelson West construction: Brampton Transit, GO detours, starting November 13



Starting Monday, November 13, the City of Brampton is closing

  • the intersection of Main Street North with Theatre Lane / Nelson Street West

to accommodate the next phase of a project by the Region of Peel to install a water main and sanitary sewers.

(Construction has blocked the northbound lanes of Main North and Brampton Transit has been detouring buses since October 26.)

During this phase of the project, Brampton Transit is detouring buses along these routes:

  • 1 Queen
  • 2 Main;
  • 24 Van Kirk;
  • 25 Edenbrook;
  • 501 Züm Queen; and
  • 502 Züm Main.

GO Transit is detouring buses along these routes:

  • 31 Guelph / Georgetown / Toronto;
  • 33 Guelph / Georgetown / North York; and
  • 37 Orangeville / Brampton.

Water-main and sewer construction at Main North / Theatre / Nelson West and the resulting BT and GO detours continue until November 24.


Brampton Transit
25 Edenbrook

From 7 a.m. Monday, November 13 until Friday, November 24, southbound buses operate along their regular path to Main Street North and Nelson Street East, then detour:

eastward along Nelson East;
southward along Union Street and Theatre Lane to Queen Street East,
resuming their regular path eastward along Main East.

Southbound buses skip their regular stops

  • on Main Street North at Nelson Street West and
  • on George Street North across from Diplock Lane.

Instead, southbound buses drop off or pick up passengers at a temporary stop

  • on Main Street North across from Nelson Street East.

Northbound buses reverse the southbound detour routing.

Northbound buses drop off or pick up passengers at all regular stops.

From 7 a.m. Monday, November 13 until Friday, November 24, southbound buses operate along their regular path to Main Street North and Nelson Street East, then detour:

eastward along Nelson East;
southward along Union Street and Theatre Lane;
westward along Queen streets east and west;
southward along George Street South; and then
eastward along Wellington Street West to Main South,
resuming their regular path southward along Main.

Southbound buses skip their regular stops

  • on Main Street North at Nelson and Queen streets west and
  • on Main Street South at Wellington Street West.

Instead, southbound buses drop off or pick up passengers at temporary stops

  • on Main Street North across from Nelson Street East and
  • on Main Street South beyond Wellington Street West.

Northbound buses reverse the southbound detour routing.

Northbound buses skip their regular stops

  • on Main Street North beyond Queen Street East and Theatre Lane.

From 7 a.m. Monday, November 13 until Friday, November 24, eastbound buses operate along their regular path to Downtown Brampton Terminal, then proceed:

southward along George Street North; and then
eastward along Queen streets west and east to Theatre Lane / Chapel Street,
resuming their regular path eastward along Queen East.

Eastbound buses drop off or pick up passengers at all regular stops.

Westbound buses reverse the eastbound detour routing.

Westbound buses drop off or pick up passengers at all regular stops.

From 7 a.m. Monday, November 13 until Friday, November 24, southbound buses operate along their regular path to Main Street North and Nelson Street East, then detour:

eastward along Nelson East;

eastward along Wellington Street West to Main South,
resuming their regular path southward along Main.

  • on Main Street South at Wellington Züm station.

Instead, southbound buses drop off or pick up passengers at temporary stops

  • on Main Street North across from Nelson Street East and

From 7 a.m. Monday, November 13 until Friday, November 24, eastbound buses start their trips in Downtown Brampton Terminal, as usually, then proceed:

southward along George Street North; and then
eastward along Queen streets west and east to Theatre Lane / Chapel Street,
resuming their regular path eastward along Queen East.

Eastbound buses drop off or pick up passengers at all regular stops.

Westbound buses reverse the eastbound detour routing.

Westbound buses drop off or pick up passengers at all regular stops.
