Subway closes early, January 28 to February 1: Spadina to King

The TTC is closing Line 1 Yonge - University subway between Spadina and King stations earlier than usually this week. From Monday, January 29 until Thursday, February 1, Line 1 trains operate only between Vaughan Metropolitan Centre and Spadina stations and between Finch and King stations after 11 p.m.

Shuttle buses partially replace Line 1 subway service. They drop off or pick up passengers at stops on streets near subway stations on the closed section of the line. Wheel-Trans service is also available at all stations for passengers needing accessible service. Ask any TTC staff member about Wheel-Trans service from each station.

While this part of Line 1 is closed, the TTC crews are maintaining the tracks.

Spadina Station on Line 1 is not accessible. If you require an accessible connection and are travelling southbound along the University branch of Line 1, exit the train at Dupont Station and ask a TTC employee for help. Similarly, King Station is also not accessible. If you are travelling southbound on the Yonge branch of Line 1, exit the train at Queen Station and speak any TTC employee for help.

According to a TTC news release, “While the TTC does most subway maintenance at the conclusion of service each night, it continues to require weekend and early weeknight closures to complete critical infrastructure and state-of-good-repair work.”

The TTC plans to close all or part of this section of Line 1 at least once more during February.
