No Lakeshore-East-line GO trains, late May 3, all day, May 4 and 5

GO Transit is cancelling train service along the 09 Lakeshore East line between Durham College Oshawa GO Station and Union Station Friday, May 3 evening and all day Saturday, May 4 and Sunday, May 5. Metrolinx is “completing major construction” along the line near Union Station those days.

Buses operate drop off or pick up passengers at all stations in Durham Region — at Oshawa, Whitby, Ajax and Pickering GO stations — then operate express to Union Station Bus Terminal. Board TTC buses, streetcars or trains to travel to and from Rouge Hill, Guildwood, Eglinton, Scarborough and Danforth GO stations.

Friday, May 3

Westbound

  • GO is replacing the trains that usually leave Oshawa at 11:10 and 11:39 p.m. with buses along the 90 Lakeshore East route. The buses stop in Whitby, Ajax and Pickering, then operate express to Union terminal.

Eastbound

  • The train that usually starts its trip in Union Station at 11:20 p.m. will end in Whitby at 12:15 a.m. At Whitby, you can connect with a bus along the 90P branch of the 90 Lakeshore East route. The bus starts in Whitby at 12:20 a.m. and ends in Oshawa GO 12:30 a.m.
  • Buses replace the trains that usually start in Union at 11:50 p.m. and 12:20 and 12:53 a.m. The buses operate express between Union terminal and Pickering GO Station bus terminal, then stop at Ajax, Whitby and Durham College Oshawa GO stations.

Sunday, May 5
  • Buses replace all trains.

Westbound replacement buses

  • 90W - Union Station Bus Terminal express to Whitby GO Station, then local stops to Durham College Oshawa GO Station;
  • 90R - Union terminal express to Pickering GO Station, then to Ajax GO Station; and
  • 90B - Union terminal express to Pickering, Ajax and Whitby, then local stops to Oshawa.

Eastbound replacement buses

  • 90W - Oshawa and Whitby, express to Union;
  • 90R - Ajax and Pickering, express to Union; and
  • 90B - Oshawa, Whitby, Ajax and Pickering, express to Union.
88 Peterborough / Oshawa
  • Friday, May 3

Southbound

  • If you normally transfer to a train from the route 88 bus arriving in Durham College Oshawa GO Station bus terminal at 11:24 p.m., you’ll need to connect to the 11:40 p.m. replacement route 90 bus.

Northbound

  • If you normally transfer to route 88 at Durham College Oshawa GO from an eastbound train, you’ll need to board the 11:55 p.m. train from Union Station, or the midnight train from Union Station to connect to the 1:04 a.m. route 88 bus.
  • Saturday, May 4 and Sunday, May 5

Southbound

  • You’ll have to wait 13 to 23 minutes to connect with a route 90 bus in Oshawa.

Northbound

  • You’ll have to wait five to 15 minutes to connect with a route 88 bus in Oshawa.

While this section of the Lakeshore East line is closed, Metrolinx continues working to integrate tracks for the east section of the Union Station Rail Corridor with the future Ontario Line subway. Crews are testing and commissioning railway infrastructure that they installed during the weekend of Friday October 14 until Sunday, October 16, 2023.

Work on the same project also affects GO trains along the 71 Stouffville line this weekend.
