Weekend events affect transit services, May 3, 4, 5



The Toronto Marathon in central and downtown Toronto blocks streets and significantly disrupts transit services this weekend, Saturday, May 4 and Sunday, May 5.

The annual Khalsa Day Procession wends its way through the Malton area of Mississauga and the [Rexdale]/archives/weblog/2024/05/03-weekend_ev.shtml(#rex) area of Toronto this Sunday, an event that also results in extensive transit detours.

Other events in the Bowmanville area of Clarington and downtown Toronto also affect transit services this weekend.

Sunday afternoon to accommodate the annual procession.

(Participants march from Sri Guru Singh Sabha Gurdwara at 7280 Airport Road in Malton to the Sikh Spiritual Centre at 9 Carrier Drive in Rexdale, so this event also affects transit service in northwestern Toronto. In previous years, the procession has attracted more than 40,000 participants and spectators.)

MiWay and the TTC are detouring bus service during the event. The event may also affect Brampton Transit service.

The TTC is also detouring buses along many routes during the event. Although Toronto Police Service officers will direct traffic at major intersections, the event may delay or detour all transit vehicles operating near the course. Plan on adding extra time to any transit trip you intend to make on Sunday morning, especially for routes that cross or travel along the Marathon course.
