Many events affect transit service in the Greater Toronto and Hamilton area this weekend — Friday, June 7, Saturday, June 8 and Sunday, June 9. The events take place in Brampton, Hamilton and the New Toronto, North York and central areas of Toronto.

Brampton


Sikh Martyrdom Parade

The City of Brampton has authorized a number of rolling lane closures from noon until 5:30 p.m. Sunday to accommodate the annual event, including:

  • Dixie Road between Guru Nanak Street and Sandalwood Parkway East;
  • Guru Nanak Street between #585 Peter Robinson and Dixie Road;
  • Humberwest Parkway between Airport Road / Sandalwood Parkway East and Williams Parkway East;
  • Sandalwood Parkway East between Dixie Road and Airport Road / Humberwest Parkway;
  • Sun Pac Boulevard between Williams Parkway East and #135 Sun Pac;
  • Williams Parkway East between Humberwest Parkway and Sun Pac Boulevard.

During the parade, expect a higher volume of traffic at Trinity Common Terminal. As the parade proceeds, the City will close and re-open the streets, likely delaying buses along many Brampton Transit routes. However, no buses will detour.

30 Airport

From noon until 6 p.m. Sunday, June 9, expect delays as the parade proceeds along Sandalwood Parkway East / Humberwest Parkway at Airport Road.

Since the transit agency is already detouring buses to operate to and from Roe Loop during ongoing onstruction at Lawrence and Lawrence West stations, it further detours the buses during the market.
