Bathurst streetcar infrastructure upgrades: TTC overnight detour, July 24 and 25

From 11 p.m. Wednesday, July 24 until 4 a.m. Thursday, July 25, TTC crews are completing “streetcar infrastructure work” on

  • Bathurst Street north of College Street.

The transit agency has not specified the exact location of the work, but, in a report to the Toronto Transit Commission (the TTC Board), TTC staff identified inspection of the overhead wiring at the Bathurst Station terminal as the site of the infrastructure activity.

The TTC is detouring streetcars along this route, while crews are working:

  • 511 Bathurst.

After 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 24 and before 4 a.m. Thursday, July 25, southbound streetcars start their trips westbound on College Street at Bathurst Street, then proceed:

along their regular path southward along Bathurst.

Southbound cars skip their regular stops

  • in Bathurst Station terminal and
  • on Bathurst Street at Lennox, Harbord, Ulster and College streets.

Instead, southbound cars pick up passengers at a temporary stop

  • on College Street at Bathurst Street.

The TTC has not detailed how streetcars proceed to and from their starting and ending points during this detour. Assuming that “streetcar infrastructure work” on Spadina Avenue hasn’t yet started north of College Street, unofficially, southbound cars likely start their trips in Spadina Station streetcar terminal, then proceed:

southward along Spadina Avenue, Crescent and Avenue; and then
westward along College Street to Bathurst Street.

Northbound cars likely reverse the southbound path.
