Since Monday, March 11, the City of Hamilton has resumed its project to upgrade the water main and improve the roadway
- on Garner roads east and west, eastbound lanes, between Wilson Street West and Glancaster Road.
Contractors have been working in two stages:
- Stage 1 — Garner Road West between Wilson Street West and Redeemer University College; and
- Stage 5 — Garner Road East between Highway 6 and Glancaster Road.
Starting 6 p.m. Friday, July 26, the HSR revises the detour path for buses along this route:
- 44 Rymal.
That day, buses start operating along a single detour path around the work zones for both stages.
Shuttle buses serve passengers travelling between Pannabaker Drive and Anson Avenue.
Construction on Garner Road and the resulting HSR detour continues until August 9.
In 2018, crews worked on the same project at a different site on Garner Road from Monday, May 7 until Wednesday, August 15.
In 2019, crews worked on the same project at a different site on Garner Road from Tuesday, July 2 until Friday, September 27.
In 2020, crews worked on the same project at a different site on Garner Road Saturday, July 25.
In 2022, crews worked on the same project at a different site on Garner Road from Monday, July 4 until Friday, August 19.

From 6 p.m. Friday, July 26 until Friday, August 9, eastbound buses operate along their regular path to Wilson Street West and McClure Drive, then detour:
northeastward along Wilson West;
south- and eastward along Amberley Drive;
southward along Fiddlers Green Road;
eastward along Book Road East; and then
northward along Glancaster Road to Garner Road East / Rymal Road West,
resuming their regular path eastward along Rymal West.Eastbound buses skip their regular stops
- on McClure Road at Ancaster Crossing,
- on Garner Road West at Shaver Road and across from Hamilton and Pannabaker drives and Braithwaite Avenue and at Fiddlers Green Road,
- on Garner Road East across from Anson and Miller drives, Woodmount Avenue and John Frederick Drive, at Southcote and Smith roads, across from Redeemer University College and Springbrook Avenue, beside Bennett’s Apples, across from Raymond Road and at Glancaster Road.
Instead, eastbound buses drop off or pick up passengers at temporary stops
- on Wilson Street West beside #1050 Wilson West, beyond Hamilton Drive and at Amberley Drive,
- on Amberley Drive at Sunnymede Drive, Melanie Crescent [west], Cottingham Crescent and Fiddlers Green Road,
- on Fiddlers Green Road across from Enmore Avenue and
- on Glancaster Road at Rymal Road West.
Westbound buses operate along their regular path.

From 6 p.m. Friday, July 26 until Friday, August 9, eastbound buses start their trips on Panabaker Drive across from Bishop Tonnos Catholic High School, then proceed:
southward along Pannabaker;
eastward along Garner Road West;
northward along Fiddlers Green Road;
eastward along Garden Avenue; and then
southward along Anson Avenue to Garner Road East,
ending their trips.Eastbound buses drop off or pick up passengers at stops
- on Garner Road West across from Pannabaker Drive and Braithwaite Avenue and at Fiddlers Green Road and
- on Anson Avenue at Garner Road West.
Westbound buses start their trips on Anson Drive north of Garner Road East, then proceed:
westward along Garner Roads east and west; and then
northward along Panabaker Drive to Bishop Tonnos Catholic Secondary School,
