Update — Friday, October 25, 5:30 p.m.: The City is again closing part of the street for the same project and the TTC is detouring the buses, starting Monday, October 29.
Starting Monday, July 29, the City of Toronto is closing
- Wright Avenue between Gibson Avenue and Pine Street
during a project to modify and upgrade the storm- and sanitary-sewer system and reduce surface basement flooding.
Crews are:
- excavating the road and digging a trench to access and install the new sewers;
- replacing City-owned water-service pipes that do not meet City standards from the sewer and water mains to private-property lines; and
- restoring all work areas with asphalt, MIconcrete or grass when they’ve finished working underground.
The TTC is detouring buses along these routes, while the street is closed:
^ Note that the map contains a major error. Buses along the 79A / 79B Scarlett Rd route approach Wright Avenue from the north along Jane Street, not the south.
The City has previously closed other sections of Wright for the same construction program and the TTC detoured the buses:
Construction on this section of Wright Avenue and the resulting TTC detours continue until August 12.

Eastbound buses operate along their regular path.
From Monday, July 29 until Monday, August 12, westbound buses operate along their regular path to Wright and Gibson avenues, then detour:
northward along Gibson to Lawrence Avenue West,
resuming their regular route eastward along Lawrence West.Westbound buses skip their regular stop
- on Pine Street at Lawrence Avenue West.
79A / 79B Scarlett Rd
Southbound buses operate along their regular path.
From Monday, July 29 until Monday, August 12, northbound buses operate along their regular path to Wright and Gibson avenues, then detour:
northward along Gibson to Lawrence Avenue West,
resuming their regular route eastward along Lawrence West.Northbound buses skip their regular stop
- on Pine Street at Lawrence Avenue West.
