The City of Toronto and the TTC have completed, for this year, a project to upgrade the aging streetcar tracks
- on King Street West between Dufferin and Shaw streets.
The City also replaced the 146-year-old water-main in the same area. Construction on both projects started Sunday, February 18. Construction has ended ten weeks earlier than the City and TTC had planned.
Starting Sunday, October 6, TTC buses and streetcars along these routes resume their regular paths:
- 63 Ossington;
- 304 King overnight;
- 504A / 504B King; and
- 508 Lake Shore.
Streetcars along the 504A branch again operate between Dundas West Station and Distillery Loop. Cars along the 504B branch again operate between Dufferin Gate Loop and Broadview Station.
Streetcars along routes 304, 504A and 508 again operate along King Street West between Shaw Street and The Queensway / Queen Street West. They no longer detour along Shaw and Queen West.
In September, the TTC introduced a new route, 303 Kingston Rd overnight. Starting Monday, October 7, route 303 cars assume their regular path along King West west of Shaw and no longer operate along Shaw and Queen.
In 2025, the City and TTC will replace the streetcar tracks at the intersection of King West and Dufferin. The City will also replace the water main under King West between Close Avenue and Dufferin as part of the same 2025 construction project.
