QEW / Dixie construction continues: MiWay revises detours, starting October 3

*Update — Sunday, December 22, 9:42 a.m.: Starting Monday, December 23, MiWay adopts the detour path for buses along the 5 Dixie route as the permanent path. It also designates the Ogden shuttle as permanent route 31 Ogden.

Update — Tuesday, November 12, 5:12 p.m.: MiWay is revising the detours to accommodate construction on Lakeshore Road East, starting Wednesday, November 13.

Ontario Ministry of Transportation contractors continue a project to widen

  • the Queen Elizabeth Way between Cawthra Road and Etobicoke Creek.

During the project, the contractors are also replacing the bridge carrying Dixie Road over the QEW. Construction began in May 2022 and likely continues for five years, meaning as late as until July 31, 2026.

Since Friday, September 19, the work zone for the projects has blocked the westbound lanes of

  • South Service Road between Ogden Avenue and Dixie Road

and MiWay has been detouring buses along this route:

  • 5 Dixie.

Starting Thursday, October 3, the Ministry expands the work zone to block northbound lanes on Dixie Road. MiWay is revising the detour path.

To partially replace service on Ogden Avenue, while buses along the 5 Dixie route are detouring, MiWay has temporarily introduced this new route since September 19:

Buses along the Ogden shuttle route operate every day. They start their trips in Dixie Outlet Mall terminal from 4 a.m. until 2 a.m. Mondays to Fridays, from 4:40 a.m. until 1:30 a.m. Saturdays and from 6:07 a.m. until 10 p.m.on Sundays and holidays. Buses drop off or pick up passengers at stops every 35 minutes.
