Update — Saturday, January 4, 11:57 a.m: The TTC further revises bus service along the Spadina coridor, starting Sunday, *January 5, 2025](/archives/weblog/2025/01/04-ttc_revisi.shtml).
The TTC has started a project to upgrade the overhead wiring on sections of the Spadina Avenue streetcar right-of-way between Spadina Station and Queens Quay West. It will also renew the tracks in the Spadina Station loop and complete early work to allow it to expand the platform and increase station capacity in the future. Buses replace streetcars along the 310 Spadina overnight and 510 Spadina routes to accommodate that project.
Starting Sunday, October 6, another streetcar-infrastructure project requires the TTC to revise the service. It’s extending the path for the 510 Spadina route so that buses operate to and from Exhibition Loop. The extended bus service replaces 509 Harbourfront streetcar service along:
- Fleet Street between Strachan Avenue and Bathurst Street;
- Bathurst between Fleet and Queens Quay West; and
- Queens Quay West between Bathurst and Lower Spadina Avenue.
Saturday, October 5 is the last day that it’s operating buses along the current 510B branch of route. (Streetcars along branch 510B operated between Spadina Station and Queens Quay West. It’s also the last day that buses drop off or pick up passengers at the stop on Dan Leckie Way, just north of Queens Quay.
Starting Sunday, it’s splitting the 510 route into two new branches:
- 510C Spadina buses operate between Spadina Station and King Street West, looping along Adelaide Street West and Charlotte Street; and
- 510D Spadina buses operate between Spadina Station and Exhibition Loop along Queens Quay West, Bathurst Street, Fort York Boulevard, and Fleet Street.
Branch 510D buses continue to operate through the temporary transit-priority lanes on Spadina and Lower Spadina avenues between Richmond Street West and Lake Shore Boulevard West.
Buses continue to operate along the current path of the 310 Spadina overnight route to and from the area of Union Station.
Buses continue to operate along the Spadina, Queens Quay West and Fleet corridors “until early 2025”, meaning as late as until February 28, 2025.
The TTC first replaced streetcars with buses along the 510B route, starting Sunday, June 23.
It temporarily short-turned all buses at Front Street West Monday-to-Friday afternoons from 3 until 7 p.m., starting Monday, July 8.
During construction on Bloor Street West at Spadina Road / Spadina Avenue, the TTC detoured the buses to operate to and from St George Station from Monday, July 15 until Monday, July 22.
The City of Toronto set up a temporary transit priority lane on Spadina and Lower Spadina avenues between Richmond Street West and Lake Shore Boulevard West, starting Sunday, July 28. The TTC no longer short-turned buses at Front Street West during afternoon rush hours, starting that day.
