GO buses replace trains along the Barrie line, late October 25, all day October 26, 27

Metrolinx and its contractors continue upgrading GO Transit’s Barrie line as part of the GO Expansion Program.


Due to the construction, GO is cancelling train service along the 65 Barrie line late Friday, October 25 and all day Saturday, October 26 and Sunday, October 27. GO buses replace the trains.

Friday, October 25

Southbound

  • GO is cancelling the train that usually starts its trip in Aurora GO Station at 8:55 p.m. train for Union Station. Instead, GO is replacing this train with a bus. The bus leaves leaves five minutes earlier than the usual train-departure time.
  • GO is cancelling the train that usually starts in Allandale Waterfront GO Station at 9:19 p.m. for Union. Instead, GO is replacing the train with two buses. One bus starts in Barrie Bus Terminal at 8:05 p.m., dropping off or picking up passengers at all stops to Union Station Bus Terminal. The second buses starts in Barrie bus terminal at 8:28 p.m. picks up passengers at Allandale Waterfront and Barrie South GO stations, then operates express — without stopping — to Union Station Bus Terminal.

Northbound

  • GO is extending the train that starts in Union at 7:54 p.m. It continues to Allandale, instead of ending its trip in Aurora. The train drops off or picks up passengers in all stations to Allandale.
  • GO is extending the train that starts in Union at 8:54 p.m. It continues to Bradford GO Station, instead of ending its trip in Aurora. The train drops off or picks up passengers in all stations to Bradford.
  • GO is cancelling the trains that usually start in Union at 10:01 and 10:54 p.m. for Allandale. Instead, GO is replacing the trains with buses. The buses leave Union Station Bus Terminal one to nine minutes later than the usual train-departure time.
Saturday, October 26
Sunday, October 28
  • GO is cancelling all trains along the line and replacing them with buses.
  • GO buses start and end *their trips in *Highway 407 Bus Terminal.
  • GO buses along route 68F drop off or pick up passengers at Barrie Bus Terminal, Allandale Waterfront GO Station, Barrie South GO Station and Highway 407 terminal.
  • GO buses along route 68G serve passengers at Barrie Bus Terminal, Allandale Waterfront, Barrie South, Bradford GO Station, East Gwillimbury GO Station, Newmarket GO Station, Aurora GO Station, King City GO Station, Maple GO Station, Rutherford GO Station and Highway 407 terminal.
  • GO buses along route 65G serve Aurora, King City, Maple, Rutherford and Highway 407 terminal.
  • GO buses along route 65H serve Wellington Street East / Highway 404 Park and Ride carpool lot, Aurora and Highway 407 terminal.
  • GO buses along route 65J will serve East Gwillimbury, Newmarket, King City, Maple, Rutherford and Highway 407 terminal.

Note that GO bus schedules differ from regular train schedules due to longer travel times.

This Saturday and Sunday, no Barrie-line trains or buses operate to and from Downsview Park GO Station, Union Station or Union Station Bus Terminal. Board or exit from TTC subway trains along Line 1 Yonge - University at Highway 407 Station to travel to and from Downsview Park and Union.


While the line is closed, Metrolinx contractors are installing a pedestrian-bridge girder at Maple GO Station.


Metrolinx and GO plan to accommodate more passengers and increase service along the Barrie line, as part of their GO Expansion Program (formerly “regional express rail”).
