MiWay revises routes and services, October 28



MiWay is extending service along the 51 Tomken route so that buses operate to and from Bramalea GO Station. At Bramalea, passengers can connect with GO Transit trains and buses and Brampton Transit buses.

The Mississauga transit agency is also increasing the frequency along the 61 Mavis route and making other changes to its service, starting Monday, October 28.

MiWay explains that “these service changes help deliver MiWay 5 Service Plan benefits,” including:

  • Better connections with neighbouring cities;
  • Better connections with major employment areas;
  • Better connections with GO Stations;
  • Direct connections between major transit hubs;
  • More off-peak service; and
  • Stronger corridors that support a grid network.

MiWay is revising service along these routes: 2 Hurontario; 6 Credit Woodlands; 17 Hurontario, 20 Rathburn; 22 Finch; 23 Lakeshore; 28 Confederation; 49 McDowell; 51 Tomken; 61 Mavis; 68 Terry Fox.

Increasing service along a route


51 Tomken

MiWay is extending the path so that buses operate to and from Bramalea GO Station.

Starting Monday, October 28, southbound pick up passengers at new stops

  • in Bramalea GO Station at platform 12,
  • on Steeles Avenue East across from Advance Boulevard and at Dixie Road and
  • on Tomken Road beyond Steeles Avenue East.

  • on Cardiff Boulevard at Transmark Court, east of Transmark Court and across from Lorimar Drive.

MiWay buses along other routes continue to serve passengers at these stops:

  • Cardiff / Transmark; Cardiff east of Transmark: 5 Dixie; 15 Drew.
  • Cardiff / Lorimar: 15 Drew.

Increasing the frequency of service along a route


61 Mavis

“Due to high [passenger] demand” Sunday-and-holdiday midday and evenings, MiWay is increasing the frequency of service along the route.

Starting Sunday, November 4, buses drop off or pick up passengers at stops

  • every 15 minutes, instead of every 18 minutes, Sunday-and-holiday midday; and
  • every 23 minutes, instead of every 43 minutes, evening after about 10 p.m.

Revising the path for buses along a route


51 Tomken

MiWay is extending the path so that buses operate to and from Bramalea GO Station.

Starting Monday, October 28, southbound buses start their trips in Bramalea GO Station bus terminal at platform 12, then proceed:

westward along Steeles Avenue East; and then
southward along Tomken Road to Cardiff Boulevard,
resuming their regular path southward along Tomken.

Southbound buses no longer drop off or pick up passengers at stops

  • on Cardiff Boulevard at Transmark Court, east of Transmark Court and across from Lorimar Drive.

MiWay buses along other routes continue to serve passengers at these stops:

  • Cardiff / Transmark; Cardiff east of Transmark: 5 Dixie; 15 Drew.
  • Cardiff / Lorimar: 15 Drew.

Instead, southbound buses pick up passengers at new stops

  • in Bramalea GO Station at platform 12,
  • on Steeles Avenue East across from Advance Boulevard and at Dixie Road and
  • on Tomken Road beyond Steeles Avenue East.

Northbound buses operate along their regular path to Tomken Road and Cardiff Boulevard, then proceed:

northward along Tomken;
eastward along Steeles Avenue East;
southward along Bramalea Road; and then
westward into Bramalea GO Station bus terminal,
ending their trips.

Northbound buses no longer drop off or pick up passengers at stops

  • on Cardiff Boulevard beyond Tomken Road,
  • on Lorimar Drive beyond Cardiff Boulevard, south of Cardiff Boulevard, at Maxwell Road and east of Maxwell Road and
  • on Cardiff Boulevard at Khalsa Road and Transmark Court.

Starting Monday, October 28, MiWay is adjusting the schedules for buses along the route every day. By adjusting the schedules, it says that it intends “to improve service reliability, as traffic and ridership patterns continue to evolve throughout the city. MiWay explains that it will continue to adjust schedules, when necessary, to make sure that services respond to [passenger] needs.

Making other changes to service along routes


28 Confederation

Starting Monday, October 28, buses pick up passengers at platform I in City Centre Terminal, instead of platform H. By relocating the stop, MiWay says it can reduce congestion at platform H and improve safety for passengers.
