To accommodate future excavation and construction of Cosburn Station, contractors have been relocating the sewer under Pape Avenue south of Cosburn Avenue since Wednesday, November 13. They’re building the new sewer using a micro-tunnelling machine under the laneway west of Pape.
To accommodate Phase Four of the project, the City of Toronto is closing
- Cosburn Avenue west of Pape Avenue
to all traffic from 5 a.m. Friday, January 31 until 8 a.m. Monday, February 3.
The TTC is detouring buses along these routes, while the street is closed:
And, passengers aboard buses along these routes can expect delays on Pape Avenue between Cosburn and Gowan avenues:
- 72 Pape; and
- 325 Don Mills overnight.
During this phase, crews are connecting the new sewer to older infrastructure and extracting the micro-tunnelling machine. The construction team will work continuously to complete the work over the weekend.
The ongoing closure and work zone at the intersection of Gowan and Pape avenues remain.
Thursday, January 30, the work zone reduces Cosburn Avenue to just two traffic lanes — one in each direction — near the laneway (Figure 1). By 5 a.m. Friday, January 31, the full closure (Figure 2) begins. By 8 a.m. Monday, February 3 at 8 a.m., two traffic lanes on Cosburn reopen, one in each direction (Figure 1).
During the closure, the work zone blocks the sidewalk on the south side of Cosburn. Pedestrians walking eastward can access Pape Avenue along the sidewalk on the north side of Cosburn north of the work zone. Traffic-control personnel and “paid-duty” Toronto Police Service officers will be on site to maintain pedestrian safety.
Crews are using large equipment, machines and cranes.
Residents and nearby business people can expect to hear noise from work equipment. Crews will reduce noise as much as possible.
