^ Note that route 508 Lake Shore cars don’t operate weekends. And that route 503 Kingston Rd cars don’t operate west of York Street.
The TTC is closing Line 1 Yonge - University subway between St George and St Andrew stations earlier than usually, Saturday, February 1 and Sunday, February 2. Line 1 trains operate only between Vaughan Metropolitan and St George stations and between Finch and St Andrew stations those days.
While shuttle buses will not operate due to traffic conditions, the TTC is increasing service on downtown surface routes to make sure you can get to where you’re going.
If you’re travelling downtown to the University branch of Line 1, board a 510 Spadina bus at Spadina Station, then transfer to connecting eastbound services at:
- College Street (506 Carlton);
- Dundas Street West (505 Dundas);
- Queen Street West (501 Queen); and
- King Street West (504 King).
If you’re travelling downtown along the Yonge branch, connect to westbound services at:
- Wellesley Station (94 Wellesley);
- College Station (506 Carlton);
- Dundas Station (505 Dundas);
- Queen Street East at Church Street (501 Queen); and
- King Station (504 King).
Some stations on the closed section of the subway remain open so you can buy PRESTO fares or tickets or connect with TTC buses and streetcars. However, Museum, Queen’s Park and St Patrick stations are closed.
Extra standby Wheel-Trans vehicles are available throughout the downtown area. The TTC is also assigning extra staff at all downtown stations to help you find your way.
During the closure, the TTC intends to:
- continue “Easier Access” elevator construction at Museum Station;
- upgrade station tiles at Queen’s Park and St Patrick stations; and
- maintain the tracks between St George and St Andrew stations.
According to a TTC news release, “While the TTC does most subway maintenance after service each night, it continues to require weekend and early weeknight closures to complete critical infrastructure and state-of-good-repair work.”
The TTC is closing part of this section of Line 1 at least twice more in February:
- Monday, February 10 until Friday, February 14 — Bloor to Osgoode — close early — track work.
- Tuesday, February 18 until Friday, February 21 — Bloor to Osgoode — close early — track work.
