GO adjusting schedules for Lakeshore West trains, April 12, 13

Metrolinx continues upgrading Long Branch GO Station as part of the GO Expansion Program.

Saturday, April 12 and Sunday, April 13, GO Transit is adjusting train service along the 01 Lakeshore West line. Trains operate hourly with a special schedule due to construction at Long Branch and elsewhere on the line. All trains leave stations at different times than usually.

GO is adjusting the westbound train that usually starts its trip in Union Station at 4:57 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays. It starts, instead, in Exhibition GO Station at 5:05 p.m. The train then continues westward along the line with its regular schedule.

If you’re transferring between the trains and buses along the 12 Niagara Falls / Burlington or 15 Brantford / Burlington routes, you may have to wait as long as 39 minutes in stations before you can connect with your train or bus.

Check your schedule before travelling.

Throughout the weekend, crews at Long Branch GO are installing electrical and mechanical utilities on the south platforms and under the tracks in the rail corridor to serve the new future platforms and station building.

The Long Branch GO Station improvement project will enhance the station’s accessibility, add modern amenities, and lead to more frequent service along the Lakeshore West line. By modernizing Long Branch GO Station and preparing for electrification, Metrolinx says, it’s “paving the way for a more efficient, sustainable transit network that will benefit commuters and the entire region.”

Metrolinx and GO plan to accommodate more passengers and increase service along the Lakeshore West line, as part of their GO Expansion Program (formerly “regional express rail”).

GO is also replacing trains with buses along the 09 Lakeshore East and 71 Stouffville lines this weekend.
