Subway closes early, April 14 to 17: Jane to Ossington

From Monday, April 14 until Thursday, April 17, the TTC is closing Line 2 Bloor - Danforth subway earlier than usually between Jane and Ossington stations. Line 2 trains operate between Kipling and Jane stations and between Kennedy and Ossington stations after 11 p.m. those evenings.

Shuttle buses partially replace subway trains. The trains drop off or pick up passengers in subway station terminals or on the street near all stations on the closed section of Line 2. Although shuttle buses are accessible, the TTC is also operating two Wheel-Trans vehicles between Jane and Ossington for passengers needed extra help in getting around.

Runnymede, High Park, Lansdowne and Dufferin stations are closed. All other subway stations remain open so you can buy PRESTO fares or tickets and connect to TTC buses or GO Transit and UP Express trains.

While this part of Line 2 is closed, TTC crews are maintaining the tracks.

The TTC is closing this section of Line 2 at least twice more during April and early May:

  • Monday, April 21 until Friday, April 25 — Jane to Ossington — close early — track work.
  • Monday, April 28 until Friday, May 2 — Jane to Ossington — close early — track work.

According to a TTC news release, “While the TTC does most subway maintenance after service each night, it continues to require weekend and early weeknight closures to complete critical infrastructure and state-of-good-repair work.”

Shuttle bus alternative

One way that you can reduce the impact of the closure is by planning ahead, leaving earlier than usually and giving yourself more time to get to where you’re going.

Although shuttle buses replacing subway service will be frequent, they may also be crowded.

Regular TTC buses provide less frequent, less direct, but, perhaps, less stressful alternatives.

  • Board buses along the 26 Dupont route to travel between Jane and St George stations.
