Exhibition Loop construction: TTC detours, starting April 27



Starting Sunday, April 27, the TTC is closing

  • Exhibition Loop

for “essential rail repairs”.

The transit agency is detouring buses along these routes, while the loop is closed:

Construction in Exhibition Loop and the resulting TTC detours continue until May 4.


TTC crews set up the work zone and start working by 11 p.m. Sunday, April 27. The transit agency says, “Around-the-clock work is required to preserve the integrity and quality of new rail and concrete.”

During this project, the crews:

  • mill the old concrete;
  • saw-cut the old concrete;
  • break and remove the old concrete;
  • replace the old rail with new rail; and
  • place new concrete.

Expect noise.

From 11 p.m. Sunday, April 27 until Friday, May 4, southbound buses operate along their regular path to Manitoba Drive and Canada Boulevard, then detour:

southward along Canada; and then
eastward into Princes’ Gate Loop,
ending their trips.

Southbound buses skip their regular stops

  • on Manitoba Drive beyond Strachan Avenue and
  • in Exhibition Loop.

Instead, southbound buses drop off passengers at a temporary stop

  • in Princes’ Gate Loop.

Northbound buses reverse the southbound detour path.

Northbound buses skip their regular stops

  • in Exhibition Loop and
  • on Manitoba Drive at Strachan Avenue.

Instead, northbound buses pick up passengers at a temporary stop

  • in Princes’ Gate Loop.

From Sunday, April 27 until Friday, May 4, eastbound buses start their trips in Princes’ Gate Loop, then proceed:

northward along Canada Boulevard to Manitoba Drive,
resuming their regular path eastward along Manitoba.

Eastbound buses skip their regular stops

  • in Exhibition Loop and
  • on Manitoba Drive at Strachan Avenue.

Instead, eastbound buses pick up passengers at a temporary stop

  • in Princes’ Gate Loop.

Westbound buses reverse the eastbound detour path.

Eastbound buses skip their regular stops

  • on Manitoba Drive beyond Strachan Avenue and
  • in Exhibition Loop.

Instead, eastbound buses drop off passengers at a temporary stop

  • in Princes’ Gate Loop.
