The TTC says it’s adding extra service tonight, Monday, May 5, to help fans get around the city safely as they cheer on the Toronto Maple Leafs in game one of the National Hockey League’s second-round playoffs at Scotiabank Arena against the Florida Panthers.
- Extra subway trains will be operating along Line 1 Yonge - University.
- Extra TTC staff will be at Union Station and other key locations downtown to help passengers, answer questions, and manage crowds.
If you’re travelling by bus or streetcar, board vehicles along the 510 Spadina, 19 Bay, 114 Queens Quay East and 121 Esplanade - River routes to and from Scotiabank Arena.
In a news release, the TTC explains that it “anticipates a high volume of fans cheering on the Leafs tonight and advises [passengers] that some streets may be closed, resulting in potential route diversions.”
The TTC is also adjusting its plans to close Line 1 earlier than usually tonight and Wednesday, May 6. It’s closing the line at midnight, instead of 11 p.m. those nights to accommodate the crowds of passengers travelling homeward from the game.
