Starting 11 p.m. Friday, May 9, TTC track crews are repairing the streetcar tracks
- on Gerrard Street East east of Norwood Avenue.
It explains that, “This work is part of [our] preventative maintenance program to ensure safe and reliable streetcar operations.”
The transit agency is detouring streetcars along these routes, while crews work on the tracks:
Shuttle buses replace the cars east of Coxwell Avenue.
Streetcar-track construction and the resulting TTC detours continue until May 12 (4 a.m.).
Crews set up the work zone and start working after streetcar service ends, 11 p.m. Friday, May 9. The TTC explains that, “Around-the-clock work is required to preserve the integrity and quality of new rail and concrete.”
Crews work only in the track area in the centre lanes of Gerrard Street East to:
- mill the old concrete;
- saw-cut the old concrete;
- break and remove the old concrete;
- replace the old rail with new rail; and
- place new concrete.
The City of Toronto may restrict on-street parking near the work zone. The work zone may also block motorists from turning left onto or off of Gerrard East.

306 Carlton overnight
From 11 p.m. Friday, May 9 until 4 a.m. Monday, May 12, westbound cars start their trips in Coxwell Loop on the northeast corner of Queen Street East and Coxwell Avenue, then proceed:
eastward along Queen East; and then
northward along Coxwell to [lower] Gerrard Street East / Eastwood Road,
resuming their regular path westward along Gerrard East.Westbound cars skip their regular stops
- in Main Street Station terminal,
- on Main Street at Danforth Avenue and [upper] Gerrard Street East,
- on Gerrard Street East at Norwood Road, across from Glenmount Park Road, at Golfview and Woodbine avenues and Kingsmount Park Road, across from Bowmore Road and at Coxwell Avenue and
- on Coxwell Avenue at [lower] Gerrard Street East.
Instead, westbound cars drop off or pick up passengers at temporary stops
- in Coxwell Loop and
- on Coxwell Avenue at Dundas Street East, Robbins Avenue and Eastwood Road.
Shuttle buses replace the cars east of Coxwell Avenue.
Eastbound cars operate along their regular path to Gerrard Street East and Coxwell Avenue, then detour:
southward along Coxwell; and then
eastward into Coxwell Loop,

From 11 p.m. Friday, May 9 until 4 a.m. Monday, May 12, buses replace streetcars along the 306 Carlton overnight and 506 Carlton routes east of Coxwell Avenue.
Westbound buses start their trips in Main Street Station terminal, then proceed:
southward along Main Street;
westward along [upper] Gerrard Street East; and then
southward along Coxwell Avenue to Eastwood Road / [lower] Gerrard Street East,
ending their trips.Westbound buses drop off or pick up passengers at stops
- in Main Street Station terminal,
- on Main Street at Danforth Avenue and [upper] Gerrard Street East,
