King West / Walnut emergency water-main repairs: TTC detours, starting May 12

Update — Friday, May 16, 8:50 a.m.: The City has completed emergency water-main repairs and streetcars and buses have resumed their previous paths.

Starting Monday, May 12, [City of] Toronto Water crews are repairing a water main

  • on King Street West at Walnut Avenue.

The work zone blocks the westbound centre lanes on King West.

The TTC are detouring streetcars along these routes, while the lanes are closed:

  • 303 Kingston Rd overnight;
  • 304 King overnight;
  • 503 Kingston Rd;
  • 504 King; and
  • 508 Lake Shore.

The TTC had already extended the paths for streetcars along routes 303 and 503 due to construction on King Street East at Church Street. During these emergency repairs, the transit agency is further detouring the cars.

Shuttle buses were already operating due to the King / Church construction. To replace transit service along King Street West between Shaw Street and Spadina Avenue during the emergency water-main repairs, the TTC is temporarily extending the path of shuttle buses along the 304D / 504D routes.

Emergency water-main repairs at King West / Walnut and the resulting TTC detours continue until further notice.
