Since Monday, April 28, the City of Toronto has closed
- Sentinel Road, northbound lanes, between Sheppard Avenue West and Lamberton Boulevard
to accommodate City contractors who are restoring the roadway after earlier water-main construction.
Since late 2024, the contractors have rebuilt Sentinel Road between Sheppard West and Lamberton Boulevard and replaced the water-main between Dovehouse Avenue and Fonthill Place, including the City-owned portion of substandard water services.
The City is also installing raised cycle tracks on both sides of the road, making for a safer and more comfortable cycling environment. Where feasible, the project also improves pedestrian amenities, including wider sidewalks, accessible crossings and raised crosswalks. During the project, the TTC is also upgrading bus stops to integrate with the cycle track and improve safety for bus operators, transit riders and cyclists.
Starting 5 a.m. Wednesday, June 4, the City expands the work zone to include southbound lanes on Sentinel.
The TTC is further detouring buses along this route, while the street is closed:
- 106 Sentinel.
This phase of construction on Sentinel Road and the resulting TTC detour continue until July 26 (5 a.m.)

From 5 a.m. Wednesday, June 4 until 5 a.m. Saturday, July 26, eastbound buses operate along their regular path to Sentinel and Hucknall roads [north], then detour:
southeastward along Hucknall;
eastward along Broadoaks Drive; and then
southward along Keele Street to Sheppard Avenue West,
resuming their regular path eastward along Sheppard West.Eastbound buses skip their regular stops
- on Sentinel Road at Lamberton Boulevard, Grandravine and Stilecroft drives, across from Dovehouse Avenue and beyond Frederick Mowat Lane and
- on Sheppard Avenue West across from Sentinel Road and at the walkway to Norman Wesley Way and Keele Street.
Instead, eastbound buses drop off or pick up passengers at stops
- on Keele Street at St. Regis Crescent, Grandravine Drive, beyond Dovehouse Avenue and beside #3400 Keele.
Westbound buses reverse the eastbound detour path.
Westbound buses skip their regular stops
- on Sheppard Avenue West beside #1450 Sheppard West,
- on Sentinel Road beyond Sheppard Avenue West, across from Frederick Mowat Lane, at Dovehouse Avenue, Stilecroft Road and Grandravine Drive, across from Lamberton Boulevard and at Hucknall Road [north].
Instead, westbound buses drop off or pick up passengers at temporary stops
- on Keele Street beyond Sheppard Avenue West, across from #3400 Keele, Dovehouse Avenue and Grandravine Drive and at St. Regis Crescent.
