Starting Monday, August 18, the City of Toronto is reopening:
- the intersection of King Street East with Church Street
to traffic.
TTC buses along these routes resume service through the intersection:
City contractors are finishing the project to replace water-mains at the intersection. The TTC is wrapping up its work to renew the streetcar tracks.
Streetcars along these routes continue to detour around the work zone:
The TTC continues to suspend service along the 508 Lake Shore route for the summer.
Wheel-Trans service remains accessible in all areas where local traffic is permitted.
The TTC will be testing and commissioning the newly installed streetcar tracks over the next few weeks. It expects to resume streetcar service in September.
Construction on the two projects started Sunday, May 11. That day, the transit agency started detouring streetcars around the work zone and replaced the cars with buses. The buses operated along King Street through the intersection.
Starting Monday, June 2, work on the projects required the City to close the intersection to all traffic and the TTC detoured the buses around the area.
Starting Friday, July 11, a sinkhole damaged Yonge Street south of King. The TTC further detoured eastbound buses during the repairs.
504 King
Starting Monday, May 12, streetcars operate along a single branch between the terminals at Broadview and Dundas West stations. Streetcars along the 503 Kingston Rd route replace regular branch 504B service along Dufferin Street to and from Dufferin Gate Loop. Buses along the 504C King shuttle-bus route replace regular branch 504A service along Sumach and Cherry streets to and from the Distillery District.
