Wilson Road South Oshawa construction: DRT detour, starting August 25

Starting Monday August 25, the Region of Durham is closing

  • Wilson Road South (Regional Road 35) between Dieppe Avenue and Bloor Street East

in the City of Oshawa to accommodate the Ontario Ministry of Transportation’s long-term project to rebuild the interchange of Highway 401 with Harmony Road South and Bloor Street East and the overpass carrying the highway across Wilson South.

Durham Region Transit is detouring buses along this route, while the street is closed:

Construction on Wilson Road South and the resulting DRT detour continue until December 31, 2026.

The Region previously closed this part of Wilson South to accommodate the same project and DRT detoured the buses from Monday, July 17 until Monday, August 19, 2024.

Route 407

Southbound buses operate along their regular path.

From Monday, August 25, 2025 until Thursday, December 31, 2026, northbound buses operate along their regular path to Farewell Street and Bloor Street East, then detour:

eastward along Bloor East;
northward along Harmony Road South;
eastward along Olive Avenue; and then
southward along Wilson Road South to Dean Avenue,
resuming their regular path westward along Dean.

Northbound buses skip their regular stops

  • on Bloor Street East beyond Farewell Street and across from Holland Street.

Instead, northbound buses drop off or pick up passengers at temporary stops

  • on Olive Avenue across from Elmridge Street, beyond Poplar Street and at Baldwin Street and Wilson Road South.
