The TTC is upgrading the streetcar wiring and other overhead infrastructure in the terminal at St Clair West Station overnight starting 11 p.m. Monday, September 29. The project requires nightly streetcar diversions.
The transit agency explains that “These essential repairs are part of TTC’s preventative maintenance program to ensure safe and reliable streetcar operations.”
The TTC is detouring streetcars along these routes, while the crews are working:

The transit agency has not explained why it’s detouring 312 / 512 St Clair cars along two different paths. However, expect more streetcar-infrastructure work in the track area on St Clair West between Oakwood Avenue and Vaughan Road from 11 p.m. Monday, September 29 until 4 a.m. Tuesday, September 30.
The TTC is also detouring buses along these routes that would usually operate through the terminal at St Clair West Station:

The TTC says that “Wheel-Trans service will remain accessible in areas where local traffic is permitted.”
Streetcar-infrastructure work in St Clair West Station terminal and the resulting TTC service changes continue overnight nightly until October 2 (4 a.m.).
TTC crews use overhead trucks with hydraulic equipment to carry out this work. You may hear beeping sounds when the trucks are backing up. You may also notice equipment lights.
