Burlington Transit raises fares, January 1

Burlington Transit is raising fares, starting New Year’s Day, Thursday, January 1.

BT says, “These small increases help [it]

  • Keep buses safe and clean,
  • Provide reliable service and
  • Support our growing transit service.”

Here’s what’s changing:

  • Adult fare with a PRESTO card increases by $0.10 cents to $2.85;
  • Youth PRESTO fare increases by $0.10 cents to $2; and
  • Cash and contactless debit= and credit=card tap increases by $0.25 cents to $3.75.

What isn’t changing:

  • Children and seniors ride free; and
  • Youth ride free after 6 p.m. Mondays to Fridays and all hours weekends.

With the PRESTO Loyalty Program,

  • Adults ride free after 40 paid rides in a calendar month so the maximum monthly cost is $114.
  • Youth ride for free after 20 paid rides in a calendar month so the maximum monthly cost is $40.

After you reach your monthly loyalty count, all other paid trips are free in the same calendar month.

Free rides, such as youth evenings / weekends do not count towards PRESTO monthly loyalty.
