The TTC is closing Line 2 Bloor - Danforth subway between Keele and St George stations earlier than usually, Tuesday, February 16 until Friday, February 20. Line 1 subway trains operate only between Kipling and Keele stations and between Kennedy and St George stations after 11:59 p.m. those evenings.
Shuttle buses partially replace subway service. The buses drop off or pick up passengers on Bloor Street West at stops near each station on the closed section of the line. TTC staff are available in each station to direct you to the shuttle-bus boarding and offloading locations.
(Or, consider a shuttle-bus alternative.)
Most stations on this section of Line 2 remain open, so you can pay fares, load PRESTO fare cards, buy PRESTO tickets and connect to TTC buses, streetcars and Line 1 Yonge - University subway trains and GO Transit and UP Express trains. However, Lansdowne Station is closed.
Note, also, that the TTC is closing passenger access points at some stations after 11:59 p.m.:
- at Dufferin Station — the Russett Avenue entrance / exit.
- at Ossington Station — the Delaware Avenue entrance / exit;
- at Bathurst Station — the Markham Street entrance / exit; and
- at Spadina Station — the Spadina Road and Walmer Road “automated” entrances / exits.
Although shuttle buses are accessible, Wheel-Trans service is also available. Speak to any TTC staff member for directions or help to locate Wheel-Trans stops at or near each station.
While this section of Line 2 is closed, TTC crews are maintaining the tracks.
According to a TTC news release, “While the TTC does most subway maintenance after service each night, it continues to require weekend and early weeknight closures to complete critical infrastructure and state-of-good-repair work.”
The TTC is closing this section of Line 2 at least once more during February:
- Monday, February 23 until Friday, February 27 — Keele to St George — close early — track work.
Shuttle-bus alternatives
Plan your trips on the subway ahead of time to avoid stress and crowds. Leave extra time in your schedule and expect longer travelling times those days.
While shuttle buses operate frequently, they will be crowded.
Regular TTC buses and streetcars provide less frequent, less direct, but, perhaps, less stressful alternatives:
- Buses along the 26 Dupont route operate between Jane and St George stations.
- Buses along the 94 Wellesley route operate between Ossington and Castle Frank stations. The buses also serve passengers in the bus terminal at Wellesley Station on Line 1.
- Streetcars along the 505 Dundas route operate between Dundas West and Broadview stations. The cars also serve passengers at St Patrick and TMU stations on Line 1.
