The City of Toronto’s RapidTO: Surface Transit Network Plan is guiding bus and streetcar improvement projects in Toronto. Through this program, the City of Toronto and TTC are enhancing bus and streetcar service across Toronto by studying and implementing transit-priority solutions that improve service reliability.
From 10 p.m. Sunday, April 26 until 4 a.m. Monday, April 27 and continuing overnight nightly, the City continues installing the priority lanes
- on Bathurst Street between Bathurst Station and Nassau Street.
The TTC is detouring streetcars along this route during the next phase of this construction:
- 511 Bathurst.
Shuttle buses replace the cars between Bathurst Station and College Street.
This phase of RapidTO construction on Bathurst Street and the resulting TTC detour continue until May 3 (4 a.m.)
The City and TTC finished installing priority streetcar lanes between Dundas Street West and Lake Shore Boulevard West and turn restrictions at Bloor Street West in December. Due to construction at Toronto Western Hospital the two agencies are not changing Bathurst between Nassau Street and Dundas West.
The project includes:
- Installing one priority streetcar lane and one vehicle lane in each direction;
- Converting centre lanes to priority streetcar lanes by adding new signage, red paint and pavement markings;
- Removing all one-hour, unsigned and Toronto Parking Authority (“Green P”) parking spaces;
- Maintaining all accessible parking and loading zones; and
- Re-timing traffic signals to optimize traffic flow through the entire project area.
As part of a separate initiative to improve the speed and reliability of TTC buses along the 7 Bathurst route, the City and TTC introduced left-turn restrictions and updated parking and loading regulations between Eglinton Avenue West and Bathurst Station last December.
511 Bathurst
From 10 p.m. Sunday, April 26 until 4 a.m. Monday, April 27 and continuing overnight nightly until 4 a.m. Sunday, May 3, southbound cars start their trips in Spadina Station streetcar terminal, then proceed:
southward along Spadina Avenue; and then
westward along College Street to Bathurst Street,
resuming their regular path southward along Bathurst.Southbound cars skip their regular stops
- in Bathurst Station terminal and
- on Bathurst Street at Bloor Street West, Lennox, Harbord, Ulster and College streets.
Instead, southbound cars likely drop off or pick up passengers at temporary stops
- in Spadina Station streetcar terminal,
- on Spadina Avenue beyond Sussex Avenue and Harbord Street and at Willcocks Street and
- on College Street at Major, Borden and Bathurst streets.

Northbound cars reverse the southbound detour path.
Northbound cars skip their regular stops
- on Bathurst Street at Ulster, Harbord and Lennox streets and Bloor Street West and
- in Bathurst Station terminal.
Instead, northbound cars likely drop off or pick up passengers at temporary stops
- on College Street across from Borden Street and at Augusta and Spadina avenues,
- on Spadina Avenue beyond College Street, at Willcocks Street, beyond Harbord Street and at Sussex Avenue and
- in Spadina Station streetcar terminal.

Shuttle buses replace the cars between College Street and Bathurst Station. Northbound streetcar passengers may board northbound buses on the east side of Bathurst Street south of College Street.
511 Bathurst shuttle buses
From 10 p.m. Sunday, April 26 until 4 a.m. Monday, April 27 and continuing overnight nightly until 4 a.m. Sunday, May 3, buses replace streetcars along the 511 Bathurst route between Bathurst Station and College Street.
Southbound cars start their trips in Bathurst Station terminal, then likely proceed:
southward along Bathurst Street;
west- and southward along Fort York Boulevard;
westward along Lake Shore Boulevard West and Princes’ Boulevard;
northward along Strachan Avenue;
westward along Manitoba Drive and the Exhibition Loop access road into Exhibition Loop,
ending their trips.Southbound buses likely drop off or pick up passengers at stops
- in Bathurst Station terminal,
- on Bathurst Street at Bloor Street West, Lennox, Harbord, Ulster and College Street, across from Nassau Street, at Dundas Street West, Robinson Street, Queen and King streets west, Niagara Street and Fort York Boulevard,
- on Fort York Boulevard across from Gzowski Boulevard and at Fleet Street,
- on Princes’ Boulevard at Strachan Avenue,
- on Manitoba Drive beyond Strachan Avenue and
- in Exhibition Loop.

eastward along the Exhibition Loop access road, Manitoba Drive and Fleet Street,
north- and eastward along Fort York Boulevard;
northward along Bathurst Street; and then
eastward into Bathurst Station terminal,

- on Manitoba Drive at Strachan Avenue,
- on Fleet Street at Fort York Boulevard,
