Once again this week, we have a double feature of new videos to show you.
So, our video covering the opening day of the Line 5 Eglinton LRT was a little delayed. But maybe that’s appropriate, given how much the line itself was delayed. Damian Baranowski and the rest of the Transit Toronto video crew collaborated to compile this archive of operations on the new Eglinton LRT on its opening day, Sunday, February 8, 2026. We hope you’ll take the time to bathe in the memories, if you were there, or get a taste of what it was like to be there.
Our second video takes us out to Montreal. I had the pleasure of visiting that great city on the first weekend of 2026, where I got to explore REM’s extension to Deux Montagnes, and ride exo’s Ligne 11 commuter rail from downtown Montreal to the community of Vaudreuil and back. The weather was cold, but the skies were bright, so I filmed a full ride along video. Check it out and enjoy the commentary, which includes a history of the line, the communities it serves, and the reason behind the various differences between Toronto and Montreal’s commuter rail operations.
At this time, I’d like to thank my friend Andrew Gurudata and YouTuber Maxime Dans Les Transports En Commu, Montrealers both, who took the time to read through the commentary for accuracy and added a number of fascinating facts and anecdotes of their own.
