The TTC is closing Line 2 Bloor - Danforth subway between Kennedy and Woodbine stations earlier than usually from Monday, May 4 until Thursday, May 7. Line 2 trains operate only between Woodbine and Kipling stations after 11:59 p.m. those evenings.

Shuttle buses partially replace subway service, stopping in or near the terminals of all stations on the closed section of Line 2. (Or, consider a shuttle-bus alternative.

Most stations on the closed section of Line 2 remain open to passengers so you can buy or pay fares and connect with TTC buses Line 5 Eglinton trains or GO Transit trains. However, Warden Station is closed.

While this section of the subway system is closed, TTC crews are maintaining the tracks. According to the TTC, “While the TTC does most subway maintenance after service each night, it continues to require weekend and early weeknight closures to complete critical infrastructure and state-of-good-repair work.”

The TTC is closing this part of Line 2 at least twice more during May:

  • Friday, May 8 — Kennedy to Woodbine — close early (at 11 p.m.) — track work.
  • Saturday, May 9 — Kennedy to Woodbine — track work.

Shuttle-bus alternatives

One way that you can reduce the impact of the closure is by planning ahead, leaving earlier than usually and giving yourself more time to get to where you’re going.

Although shuttle buses replacing subway service will be frequent, they may also be crowded.

Regular TTC buses provide less frequent, less direct, but, perhaps, less stressful alternatives.

  • Board buses along the 8 Broadview route to travel between Warden and Broadview stations.
  • Board buses along the 12B Kingston Rd route to travel between Kennedy and Victoria Park stations.
  • Board buses along the 20 Cliffside or 113 Danforth routes to travel between Kennedy and Main Street stations.
  • Board buses along the 135 Gerrard route to travel between Warden and Main Street stations.

Note also that streetcars along the 506 Carlton route link Main Street Station with downtown Toronto.
