The City of Toronto is replacing sewer infrastructure
- on College Street between Bay and Yonge streets and
- on Carlton Street between Church and Yonge streets.
The City and the TTC are also renewing streetcar tracks on the same streets and upgrading streetcar overhead wiring in the area.
Starting Monday, July 27, the City is closing
- College and Carlton streets, **westbound lanes, between Bay and Church streets. I
to accommodate the projects. One lane remains open for eastbound traffic.
The TTC is detouring streetcars along these routes, while the streets are closed:
Shuttle buses replace the cars between Parliament and Bay streets.
Construction on College and Carlton streets and the resulting TTC detours continue “until the end of December,” meaning as late as until December 31.

Starting Wednesday, July 29, the City is closing
- the intersection of Yonge Street with College and Carlton Streets
to north-south through traffic.
The TTC is detouring buses along these routes, while the intersection is closed:

Construction at the Yonge / College / Carlton intersection and the resulting TTC detours continue until September 6.
In the first phase of these projects, the City closed
- the intersection of College Street with Bay Street
to all traffic, starting Monday, March 2.
The TTC resumed bus service through the intersection Saturday, March 28. It resumed most streetcar service through the area Monday, May 3. All streetcar service resumed Saturday, May 10.
The City and TTC paused construction from mid-April to end of July during the FIFA World Cup 2026™.
