The TTC is continuing its “Easier Access” program to install elevators in its rapid-transit stations, making the subway system accessible for everyone. The program supports the government of Ontario’s Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act.
Although the provincial legislation committed the TTC to achieving a barrier-free transit system by 2025, it hasn’t completely met that goal. It continues projects to improve the accessibility of stations over the next few years. According to the TTC, most stations are now accessible but it still has more under construction.

At Warden Station, the transit agency is completely rebuilding the bus terminal. The new terminal will feature plenty of natural light and more accessible platforms, which includes elevators between the terminal level and the train platforms.
Since Sunday, January 5, 2025, the TTC has closed the bus terminal and rerouted buses to a temporary terminal in the former south commuter-parking lot — or to stops on the street beside the station.
Now, starting Sunday, September 6, the TTC is closing the temporary bus loop at Warden Station until early 2027 and bus routes serve the station from on-street stops, as part of the next stage of the Warden Station Redevelopment Project.

Warden Station is now AODA accessible with two new elevators in service.
- Passenger Pick-Up/Drop-Off Street Level to Station Concourse
- Station Concourse to Subway Platform Level
Construction continues on a new, permanent, accessible bus terminal, which the TTC has scheduled to partially open to passengers in early 2027 and fully open by the end of 2027.
In addition to the Easier Access enhancements, which will systematically renovate Warden Station for universal accessibility and enhanced pedestrian access, the TTC is completely rebuilding Warden Station, with an entirely new bus terminal, featuring plenty of natural light and more accessible platforms.

Transit agencies often interline buses along two or more routes with a common terminal to save resources — human resources (drivers) and physical resources (vehicles). For example, when a southbound bus along the 9 Bellamy route arrives to the stop on the north side of St. Clair Avenue East west of Warden Avenue (Bay 2, Stop ID 14055), it continues southward along the 8 Broadview route. It then completes a round trip along route 8. When it returns to the area of Warden Station — stopping on St. Clair East east of Warden, near the Line 2 Bloor - Danforth overpass (Bay 1, Stop ID 16898) — it continues northward along route 9.
