A new service established to connect the Sheppard/Highway 400 (“Oakdale”) area with the SPADINA SUBWAY at Wilson, theoretically saving passengers time in getting to the subway, and reducing pressure on the Yonge subway. Service replaces a portion of the 99 NORFINCH route.
Buses operate on three branches. Service on the 116 and 116A branches operate from Weston station to Weston Road and Sheppard via Wilson, Transit Road, Allen Road, Sheppard to Weston Road, looping via Weston Road, Bradstock and Rivalda. Buses on the 116A branch operate through CFB Downsview Mondays through Fridays until 5:15 p.m., and bypass the army base (116 branch) at all other times. Service operates weekdays only.
During rush hours, service on the 116B branch operates from Wilson station via Wilson, Transit Road, Allen Road, Sheppard, Oakdale, Norfinch and Steeles to Jane, looping via Jane, Hullmar, and Peter Kaiser

Monday to Friday midday service is increased on the 116A branch (through CFB Downsview) to every 25 minutes, and service on the 116 branch increased to every 21 minutes.
January 3, 1984
Service on the 116 and 116A branches discontinued after the end of operations on December 30, 1983, due to low ridership. Effective on this date, service on the 116B rush hour branch revised to operate both ways through CFB Downsview. Midday and additional rush hour service through the air base is provided by a new branch of the 84 SHEPPARD WEST service.
