To provide service to the area around Norseman Street south of Bloor between Royal York and Kipling, the TTC established the 121 NORSEMAN route, running from Royal York station on the BLOOR DANFORTH SUBWAY, south on Royal York, west on Norseman to north on Kipling, looping via Advance, Shawbridge and Olivewood to Kipling and return.

Since Norseman Street is a mix of residential (Royal York to Islington) and industrial (Islington to Kipling) areas, service is initially provided with buses out of Queensway garage operating at 15 minute intervals during rush hours and at 25 during the midday, with no evening or weekend service. All runs operated with a mix of 12 meter, 40 foot GM New Look or Flyer high floor buses

This is the TTC’s second attempt to operate bus service on Norseman Street, as previously seen with the 69 QUEENSWAY from 1957 to 1963.
