Service begins on a new route serving Gerrard Street east of Main Street in east Toronto. Buses operate from Main Street station on the BLOOR-DANFORTH SUBWAY via south on Main Street, east on Gerrard, northeast on Clonmore and north on Warden to loop through Warden station on the BLOOR-DANFORTH SUBWAY, returning via the reverse route. Service replaces a portion of the 20A CLIFFSIDE branch. Service operates between 6 a.m. and 6 p.m., Mondays through Saturdays.

Monday to Saturday evening service and Sunday service added to this route. The last Sunday trips leave Main Street station around 11 p.m., while on other days, these last trips depart around 1 a.m.

Saturday evening and all Sunday service is eliminated due to low ridership.

Service is rendered accessible with the use of low-floor buses.
November 23, 2008
As part of service improvements implemented through the Ridership Growth Strategy, service on this route operates at intervals of 30 minutes or better whenever the subway is open (adding Sunday service and late evening Saturday service).

Late evening Saturday and all Sunday evening service eliminated as part of a series of system-wide budget cuts.

With work largely complete on the renovation of Coxwell station, service on the 70 O’CONNOR bus returns to normal, and an interline is restored at Warden station with 135 GERRARD, Mondays through Fridays.

With construction temporarily closing Main Street station, service is shortened to operate out of Victoria Park station. Service on Gerrard between Main and Victoria Park is provided by an extension of the 506 CARLTON shuttle buses to Victoria Park and Victoria Park station.
