November 24, 2002

Coincident with the opening of the SHEPPARD SUBWAY, service begins on 190 SCARBOROUGH CENTRE ROCKET, a new weekday rush-hour and midday limited stop express service connecting Don Mills station with Scarborough Centre station on the SCARBOROUGH RT, replacing most express service on the 85E SHEPPARD EAST EXPRESS between Don Mills station and Brimley Road.

From Don Mills station, buses exit onto Sheppard Avenue, operating east on Sheppard, south on Brimley, east on Triton to Scarborough Centre station, returning via the reverse route. Buses stop at Don Mills station, Warden, Birchmount, Kennedy and Scarborough Centre station. Service operates every ten minutes during rush hours, and every fifteen minutes during the midday, using accessible New Flyer D-40-LF low-floor buses and based out of Eglinton Garage.

August 31, 2003

Two additional eastbound trips from Don Mills station added, departing at 7:15 and 7:30 p.m. In addition to this, a new stop is added in both directions at Victoria Park and Sheppard.

On or before this date, service is rerouted to operate via Sheppard, Midland, Progress, Brimley and Triton, instead of via Sheppard and Brimley, to improve service reliability.

November 3, 2003

New stops added at Pharmacy and Sheppard and at Allanford Road (between Birchmount and Kennedy) and Sheppard, in both directions.

September 7, 2004

New early evening weekday and weekend and holiday daytime service established established, with buses operating at 15 minute frequencies. Additional service added to rush hour service to reduce crowding.

September 6, 2004

New earlier westbound and later eastbound trips added on weekdays. An earlier westbound trip departs from Scarborough Centre Station at 6:23 a.m. and a later eastbound trip departs from Don Mills station at 10:15 p.m.

June 24, 2007

Monday to Friday late evening and weekday and holiday early evening service established on a trial basis, with buses operating every 15 minutes.

November 23, 2008

In accordance wit the TTC’s Ridership Growth Strategy, new service established during the late evenings on weekends and holidays, operating at 20 minute intervals. The last trips leave Don Mills and Scarborough Centre stations at 1:00 a.m., every day.

With this change, operations of the route were transferred to Malvern Garage.

February 13, 2011

Due to shortage of Low Floor buses at Malvern Garage, the route is now served by Lift Equipped Orion V buses.

June 22, 2014

A new stop is added along Midland Avenue in both directions.

February 15, 2015

With the retirement of the Orion V lift buses and to balance bus allocations, the operations of this route switched back from Malvern Garage to Eglinton Garage.

New express stops are added to the route at Reidmount Avenue (stops #10480 and 15018) in order to provide a better connection between this route and Stouffville GO Trains at Agincourt GO station.

Sunday, June 24, 2018

As part of ongoing divisional reallocation, service on this route is transferred from Eglinton Garage back to Malvern Garage.

Saturday, September 1, 2018

Last day of service. Effective the following day, service is replaced and expanded by the 985 SHEPPARD EAST EXPRESS operating between Don Mills station, Scarborough Centre and Meadowvale.
