Occasional short turns

June 1, 1971

The route is temporarily split at the Canadian Pacific Railway underpass between Dundas and St. Clair, due to bridge reconstruction. South of Dundas, buses operate between Jane Station and Dundas, looping via west on Page, north on Watson and east on Dundas to south on Jane. North of St. Clair, buses operate between Lawrence and St. Clair, looping via east on Pritchard, south on Mariposa and west on St. Clair to north on Jane. Passengers must walk along a walkway through the underpass to connect between these two services.

July 15, 1971

The pedestrian underpass through the construction zone listed above is closed by the Ontario Department of Labour. Through service resumes, albeit on a detour around the underpass construction. Buses operate over the normal route and then divert via Dundas, Runnymede and St. Clair. To assist people in the neighbourhood through construction, a free fare zone is introduced between St. John's and Pritchard, beginning on September 7, 1971, and lasting for the duration of the detour.

November 2, 1972

On the afternoon of this date, construction ends, and through service resumes, through the new underpass.

November 26, 1972

Service is extended north of Lawrence on Jane to Steeles, replacing the 83 TRETHEWEY route. At Steeles, alternate buses loop on the west and east side of Jane. 35A buses loop via west on Hullmar, north on Peter Kaiser, east on Steeles and south on Jane. 35B buses loop via north on Jane, east on Steeles, south on Murray Ross Pkwy, and west on Shoreham.
