353 Steeles Night/353 Steeles East Night

A new overnight service is introduced operating on Steeles Avenue East, between the Yonge and Middlefield, labelled 353 STEELES EAST NIGHT. In the west, buses turn back at the Yonge/Steeles loop on the south side of Steeles just east of Yonge (connecting with 320 YONGE BLUE NIGHT buses), and loop in the east in an off-street loop on the east side of Middlefield just north of Steeles in the east end. Service provided by lift-equipped Orion V buses by Malvern Garage on all runs, every day of the week.

Service is extended east from Middlefield to Markham Road. Buses follow the regular route to Tapscott Road and then loop via south on Tapscott, west on Passmore and north on Markham Road to route.

In anticipation of the Pan-Am Games and the roll-out of improvements to the Blue Night Network, service is extended west of Yonge Street to serve York University, operating via west on Steeles Avenue West, south on Keele, and west on York Boulevard to loop through York University Common, returning via the reverse route. Coincident with this change, service is renamed 353 STEELES NIGHT

Service is extended east to provide new night service to Staines Avenue. Buses now operate east of Markham Road via Steeles before turning south and west on Staines, west on Finch, north on Tapscott, to Newgale Gate. Buses return via east on Newgale Gate, north, east and south on Finchdene Square, east on Finch, east and north on Staines and west on Steeles. Service continues to operate out of Malvern garage.

January 11, 2021

With the opening of the Amazon Fulfillment Centre at Passmore and Morningside, service begins on a shuttle bus offering extra trips to connect customers on the 353 STEELES NIGHT overnight service to the facility. Buses connect with eastbound 353 STEELES NIGHT trips at Tapscott Road and Steeles and operate via south on Tapscott and east on Passmore to the facility, returning via west on Passmore, north on Markham Road and east on Steeles to tapscott. These extra trips operate from 4 a.m. to 6 a.m., and are not available on the TTC’s website for trip planning.

Most buses on this route have been transferred to the newly opened McNicoll Garage while the remainder continue to operate out of Malvern Garage.
